Marriage...We think it's going to be this amazing journey of only happiness, and living in wedding bliss forever!!! Um, and then reality hits! I don't mean to be a bubble buster but it's a fact of life that NOTHING is perfect, and without issue. Some point in time you and your spouse will encounter difficult times. The challenge will be how you handle these difficult times. In today's world so many ( Christians Included) are lining up to end their marriages, and get divorced. Sometimes it is after a marital affair, or sometimes it is during some sort of addiction. Other times you just feel you have lost the "connection" with your spouse you once had, and your not sure you can get that spark back again. Whatever it may be God can help restore your marriage. God did not make marriage to be a "for now" type of relationship. He made it to be a "forever" type of relationship.
Genesis 2:22NIV
" Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man."
Let me just note for a second here that God never wants us to be in an abusive relationship though, so if you are being abused then by all means seek safety first and foremost!! Also continuing your education with good Christian reference materials. I have a few favorites myself. For marriages I highly recommend watching the movie Fireproof.
Genesis 2:22NIV
" Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man."
Genesis 2:23 NIV "The man said,
“This is now bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called ‘woman,’
for she was taken out of man.”
Mark 10:6 " Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
Matthew 19:6 "So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
Also after watching this movie I highly recommend reading The love dare. This book takes you day by day in healing your marriage! It is a VERY intense book, and I will admit the steps are not always easy, but they are well worthy a healthy marriage.
Another great book to read is the marriage turnaround. This book is a great book that gives alot of examples that many of us can relate to, and solutions to common problems in our relationships. I read this book and I will admit Chapter 10 hit me HARD!!! It is titled " A crisis means we're over". It's a powerful book, that can change your life, and your marriage if you apply what you learn. Remember you can read a million books, but if you don't apply the teachings then not much will change. It is about reading, personally developing, and growing as a person that makes the difference. These are my top picks for self help Christian resources. I hope that this information can help some of you. My prayers are with each and everyone one of you struggling to keep your marriage afloat. Remember you are NEVER alone...God is always there with you. He is available 24/7, all you need to do is pray!
